Inca Research introduces low cost, convenient consumer scanning!

Pennyscan is a miniature, low cost consumer bar code scanner. It is unique and could revolutionize the way in which we retain and recall information.

It was developed by Inca Research over a 2 year period, building on over 15 years bar coding experience!

The pennyscan is tear drop shaped - just 10mm thick by 36mm wide to fit onto a key ring. It will read all major world barcode formats including UPC - EAN, supplementals, ISBN, code25 code39, Codabar and code128. It holds over 300 barcodes - including time/date stamping. It has a secure 19.2Kbps two way opto transfer to a receiver device, and it uses a totally safe low power LED scan light.

Pennyscan has already created huge interest amongst e-commerce, media and personal shopping organizations and has a mass of possible applications. This market sector is set to boom in the coming months, as major publishers and retailers race to be first to offer these tiny key ring scanners to their premium customers; identifying themselves as market leaders for the coming e-commerce revolution.

The microscopic scan engine 28x8x6mm is believed to be the world’s smallest with decoding, serial & optical two way coms; available separately for incorporation into existing products. With reliable operation down to just 1 volt and a minuscule 500uA scanning mode. The unit is generating interest among diverse manufacturers from WAP mobile phones to PDA’s.

Apart from scanning, the Pennyscan can also hold - and share - up to 4k of binary data for encryption, hash functions, key rings, security access, passwords, address links, corporate intranet access, and more. With IR, USB, and RS232 interfacing options, free software drivers and tools for DOS, Windows 95/98/2000, it is the most open and accessible scanner on the market today!
